Entering the final phrase of my corporate life. Two weeks to go.
It was after all not an easy decision. I found that I basically have reviewed all the bottom-lines of my comfort zones and many of my beliefs, at least those I was aware of. It really was a struggle.
All I know for sure is, it isn’t me.
But, it is still pretty scary, right? To break away from the very steady paycheck and position, and to enter the unknown full of uncertainties. I have thought that it was going to take all my courage. Yet, once I chose to trust myself and made the decision, I felt unexpectedly calm. I know it will work out - I know I will work it out.
Then, I realise I have changed.
I used to think that I have no choice, or, to put it more accurately, I didn’t realise I have choice.
The range of what we think and do is limited by what we fail to notice. And because we fail to notice that we fail to notice, there is little we can do to change; until we notice how failing to notice shapes our thoughts and deeds.
~ R.D. Laing
This doesn’t happen overnight. It is a long stroll during which I do a lot of thinking and read a lot of books. The works of the following writers in particular shape the me today:
- Dr. Wayne Dyer
- Robin Sharma
- Stephen R. Covey
- Marcus Buckingham
- Richard Branson
- David J. Schwartz
- Jack Canfield
- Richard Wiseman
- Andrew Matthews
And I begin to realise that one of the major reasons why we hold fast to the status quo is our belief in scarcity- after all we don’t believe we can get the “great” if we give up the “good” - we believe what we have now is already all we deserve…
The best way to predict the future is to invent it.
~ Alan Kay
I have thought that getting closer to the final day, the fear feeling will creeps in. It is nevertheless quite the contrary - I actually smile much more and feel much lighter. I already get busy on my next project, and of course, writing this blog (which is born at this particular time not by accident).
Two roads diverged in a wood, and I -
I took the one less traveled by;
And that has made all the difference.
~ Robert Frost

It’s a good thing that you decided to bury the corporate employee kind of life.
All the best from now on!
Thank you Titus-Armand.
