Happiness, And Things I Have Learnt So Far
Published September 13th, 2007 in Happiness, Success, Life, Thoughts.Things I learnt from life so far
- Complaining is silly. Either act or forget
- Thinking life will be better in the future is stupid. I have to live now.
- Being not truthful works against me.
- Helping other people helps me.
- Organising a charity group is surprisingly easy.
- Everything I do always comes back to me.
- Drugs feel great in the beginning and became a drag later on.
- Over time I get used to everything and start taking it for granted.
- Money does not make me happy.
- Traveling alone is helpful for a new perspective in life.
- Assuming is stifling.
- Keeping a diary supports my personal development
- Trying to look good limits my life.
- Worrying solves nothing.
- Material luxuries are best enjoyed in small doses.
- Having guts always works out for me.
Stefan Sagmeister, the Grammy Award winning graphic designer shared about design and happiness in the TED talk in 2004 and closed his speech with the list of things I learnt so far found in his diary (see list above). I have highlighted those that I resonate most. How about you? Which one “aha” you?
I am happiest when…
Stefan also shared that when he tried to list the happiest moments in his life, he found that most of them were related to design -no wonder he is a graphic designer.
These couple of days at Shine With Grace here we have been talking about doing what you love and loving what you do. But do you know what you love? If the answer for you is still a bit blur, copy what Stefan has done - list your happiest moments in life, write down what you enjoy most and I am sure you will discover some interesting patterns or with some luck, a new insight.
