What I Wish I Knew at 16
Published September 14th, 2007 in Success, Life, Thoughts, Belief. What you wish you knew when you were 16?
Met with my high school teacher the other day who invited me to give a talk to my junior in regard to their career development. In stead of going into the specifics, I suggested to share my experience from a boarder perspective with the theme, “What I wish I knew when I was 16″.
What I wish I knew at 16?
Initially, they include:
- I am as good (or bad) as I think I am
- The law of attraction
- My niche
- What makes my heart sings
- My interest could be the best starting point of my career
- The world is much bigger than I think it is
- The world changes faster than you can imagine
- Curiosity pays off
- Time is the only resources that I have - which is too precious to be wasted
- Gut feeling is trust-worthy
- What goes around comes around
- Trust is the cornerstone of every relationship - therefore honesty is the best decision
- Make a living by trading time / labour is a bad idea.
- Sales skill is a basic skill in every profession
- Passive income is the most important income
- EQ is more important than IQ
- There is magic in thinking big. BTW, the extra mile is not that crowded
- Chances favour prepared minds
- It is what you are unwilling to do holds you back
- 80/20 rule
- The Parkinson’s Law
- First things first
- What you focus on, expends
- Work smart
Wow, this is already a pretty long list and I may not be able to cover them all in details during my 45 mins talk. Anyhow, while I have already discussed some of the above in Shine With Grace here, I will further elaborate the rest starting next week in this blog, while I am preparing my speech at the same time.
Your lessons
So how about you? Looking back, what lessons you would like to share to the teenager you were?
[Note: The talk has been delivered successfully on 18 Oct 2007 and the gist is at my post Don’t You Know Where You Are Heading To?]
