Sometimes we would like to be (or, pretend to be) humble.

Say, when we’ve made a great presentation, closed a deal, or performed a perfect golf swing… and people compliment us, we would say, “Oh, just lucky!”

But, is it mere luck?  And, why don’t accept the compliment and just say “Thank you”?

Remember:

  • If you feel uneasy to accept compliments even though you really have done a great job, it may reflect that indeed your self esteem is a bit low…
  • Accepting genuine compliments doesn’t mean that you are egotistical.  You know where the thin line is, right?
  • Compliment is a gift - when people give it away, they hope you’re happy receiving it.  It could be very disappointing if you response, “Oh, you are just too kind.  I know my legs are as fat as the pig’s.” when your friend compliment how good you look today.
  • Think big.  Successful people accept compliments.  Can you imagine Donald Trump or Warrant Buffet say “It was just an accident” when people congratulate them for their success?
  • The law of attraction - believe it or not, we attract what we welcome.  When we welcome good things, including compliments, success and wins, we get more.  Why push good karma away?
