Nothing happens until something moves.

~ Albert Einstein

Left my corporate job for two months now, and my new business is gradually taking shape.

Hey dear, we are creating things!  Nothing of these lines of business exist just three months before.

~ I said to Sophie, my business partner, while waiting to meet a client of our new company yesterday.

Imagine

Stephen Covey says that all things are created twice (firstly in the mind, then in reality, put in very simplified terms).  I guess that’s true.  To travel to Greece, you first imagine yourself travelling at Greece; to get an MBA, you first imagine yourself studying in an MBA; to own a blog, you first imagine writing a blog post.

Don’t you want something new?  Put in your imagination.

Create

And, you don’t just sit there.

You can’t telesport yourself to Greece by just thinking about it; you won’t get an MBA if you don’t enroll for the programme you don’t build a blog without putting down your ideas.

Imagination without action is called day-dreaming.

Until you pick up the brush, we don’t have the painting.

Until you press the shutter, we don’t get that photo.

Until…

Attract

And, when you start to create the momentum, more of the same follows.  Believe or not, it’s called the law of attraction.

Right after I made the decision of starting my own business, amazing things begin to happen, investors and business partners emerge; branding opportunities appear; business proposals pop up…

I can’t help but think of my favourite quote again:

Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back– Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.

Dream

Do you have any dream?  Do you allow yourself to dream?  Remember you dreamed about almost everything when you’re still a child?

The fundamental philosophy of our business is that is it dream that land us at the next level.  All you need to get there may just be discovering the “how to”.  Therefore, don’t hold yourself back, don’t even forbid yourself to dream, don’t be too realistic…

If the Wright Brothers have been realistic, we don’t have planes today.

You never know…

Mentioned Maung Aw’s paintings the other day at my  Possible Dream post.  Can’t help post again with more from the same Woman Dressing series here.  Still dreaming hanging one in the conference room of our office one day.

Excellent post. I was just talking to some one about this last night! I appreciate your perspective and sharing your thoughts.

Visualize, visualize, visualize. Affirmation, affirmation, affirmation . . . being positive is the first step, right? It’s just so much easier to say than do!

    Hi Jon,

Thanks. What is more amazing is that the morning following I wrote this post, I bumped into my lecturer who inspired me to start my own business… We were on the train I had just enough time to brief him the business model of my new venture… What coincidence!

    Hi Deb,

Welcome to Shine and thanks for your comment. No, we can never just sit there, “visualise” and make things happen. I don’t believe that will work. Just as what I have mentioned in my “a possible dream” post, I am actually working from 8am to 2am daily to make it happen.
