Is Your Success Repeatable?

dise

Why so many people think that it’s luck that brings them success is they are not sure whether they can make it again.

My friend (a coach by profession) said the above during our casual conversation one day, and I kept thinking about it since then.

Is your success repeatable?

Say you are a student and you finish this term with flying colours. Are you confident that you’re going to make it next year?

Say you are in sales and you’ve closed a real big deal. Are you confident that you’re going to close a similar deal next month?

Say you are a speaker and you’ve just made a perfect presentation.  Are you confident that you are going to deliver the speech so powerfully next time?

If the answers to the above are yes, then you have acquired the strategies / technique / skills /formula that to a certain extend guarantee your success.  Otherwise, you might just have scored the full marks by chance without a clue why you’ve made it.

If you don’t know why you’re successful / what are the factors that brought you the success, the chance of your attaining it again is low.

Of course, the world is changing fast and every situation may be different.  The factors that apply this time may not be applicable in the next.  But, if you don’t even know what are your basic merits, you won’t be able to adjust and adopt in different situations.

If you’ve just made it once, have a de-briefing with yourself, analyse what brings you the success, what are your strengths, what are your weaknesses.  Ask yourself whether you can make it again.

Are you confident that it’s yourself not chance that you can  reply on?

Is your success repeatable?

Refer to the statement, sometimes it is not just a metter of not knowing why it is successful, but is something about confidence.

    Hi Ching,

Very true. And,I think sometimes it works both ways. When you “know” that you have the skills, knowledge, ability to make it, you are more confident.

Thanks Jon, it’s always important to know one’s strength and weaknesses.
