Yaari.com Hijacked My ID and Spammed My Friends!!
Published November 4th, 2007 in Success, Thoughts.Readers beware! Yaari.com is a social networking site that would hijack your email ID and spam all the contacts on your email contact list by inviting them to join Yaari on behalf of you, without seeking your consent.
What happened
Around a week ago, I received this email titled “ABC is your Yarri!” (ABC denotes my friend’s name here), which says that ABC wanted me to join Yaair and if I don’ respond, ABC would think that I said no. As ABC is from India and Yaari also named itself the prime social networking site for India youth, the invitation seemed logical to me. Already a member of other social networking sites, I decided to also join this one to see whether there is anything interesting and original from this Indian site. Being too occupied by my other commitments, I had not visited Yaari again since.
Two days ago, my different email accounts received invitation emails from myself for joining Yaari… At the same time, a number of emails “bounced back” from friends I had not written to, and a gentleman I didn’t know leaving a message at my Facebook page thanking me for inviting him to join Yaari…
How embarrassing!
Obviously, my ID was hijacked!
It was embarrassing but in order to prevent the ID of my contacts being hijacked, I issued hundreds of emails within half an hour to all on my contact list warning them about the Yaari spam. As expected, some friends replied me that they have already joined…
It’s NOT ethical, Yaari!
It’s not just about the numbers and profit, Yaari!! People leave sooner than you can expect when they find out that you are a fraud. And, just in case you are not aware, in this era, there is no secret around the Internet.
Be good!
It’s a common complaint of Yaari.com
Having taken all the measures to inform my friends and deactivate my Yaari account, I googled yaari to see what’s going on with this company. And the result is, the spamming approach is a common complaint of Yaari.com. (Indeed when I typed yaari, the phrase “yaari spam” popped up at position number 3 as a suggested search. So, Yaari is really famous for it’s hijacking behaviour.)
- Boycott yaari.com -Spam 2.0
- Why Yaari is not a good friend: serves spams for guests
- Yaari, social network or international scam?
I can carry on but let’s stop here.
So, friends, please don’t response if you receive any invitation from Yaari.com saying that your friend wants you to join or he/she will be very unhappy. Chances are, your friend doesn’t even notice an invitation has been sent to you bearing his/her name. And, if unfortunately you have joined yaari already, my recommendation would be deactive immediately.

Never heard of Yaari.com. But there’s plenty of noise about bloggingzoom.com right now.
Thanks Jon,
I almost felt obliged to share this here with my readers. It can cause much nuisance to the friends.
Hi Markk,
Thanks for naming the other site. Will be careful…
