Are You Honest With Yourself?
Published November 22nd, 2007 in Happiness, Gratitude, Love, Success, Life, Law of Attraction, Thoughts. Are you honest with yourself?
I didn’t realise it before, but, more and more, I find that we do fool ourselves (sometimes, if not always), and it takes a lot of awareness and honesty to face our true selves, our real intention.
Denial
Remember the fable of the grapes we learnt in kindergarten? We do take up that fox role without ourselves knowing it.
When we want something badly, our heart ache when we can’t get it. How to release the pain? We deny our desire altogether.
- Do you want to be with her? No, I don’t really love her. I prefer we stay as best friends. Friendship lingers relationship doesn’t.
- Do you want to that position? No, I don’t long to be promoted to that rank - too much pressure.
- Do you want to get rich? No, money is the source of all evils. Good people don’t get rich.
All of us are afraid rejection. We hate failure. We stay within the safety zone, and we rationalise our behaviour.
Action speaks louder than words
Don’t listen to what you say (or what people say), watch their actions, for your real choice is reflected in what you do and how you allocate your time, not what reasons (excuses) you give.
If you tell yourself that your goal this year is to win the marathon, but you spend most of your time elsewhere instead of your running practice, getting that gold medal is yet your priority.
You have to name it to claim it
You can’t get what you want if you don’t know what you want.
You can’t get what you really want if you deny the fact that you want it.
Because you won’t work on attaining your goal (if not giving up altogether). And you are sending out mixed signals to the people around you, and the universe (if you believe in law of attraction).
Listen to your heart and take some risk
This is not easy, for you really feel the pain if you want something really badly.
Just don’t hold back, just don’t pretend you don’t care.
And, be very honest with yourself. At the end of the day, don’t regret that you haven’t taken that chance.

Being honest with myself is a big deal to me. I live this one as much and as ardently as I can. It has changed my life. And I agree with your points. I am always encouraged when I visit you.

Hi Grace, just to say I like those two lines. Good stuff you’re writing.
Hi Estee, Jon and Markk,
Thanks for your reponses. We all need to learn to be honest with ourselves - and it’s not easy - otherwise we don’t deny we have that desire at the first place.
Most important, we are aware of such tendency - we can change if we don’t even realise there is a problem.
