Don’t say try, just DO it
Published December 7th, 2007 in Psychology, Success, Life, Thoughts, Belief. When facing a new challenge, or being approached for taking up some new responsibilities, many of us like to say, “I will try.”
But, are you aware that when you say you will try, instead of you will DO, you are indeed showing your uncertainty (may be subconscious) in regard to the task?
Sometimes, we even fool ourselves, we act like we are serious, we will actually go through all the motions, perform all the required tasks, without the belief that it can be done. When it fails, we say loudly, “I’ve given it an honest try!”
Have you?
Or, you are just carrying out the duties half-heartedly? If you don’t believe in the action, you won’t go the extra mile to make it work - and this includes your new business, your relationship, your job, your exam, your competition… Everything.
Action speaks louder than words. If you say you care about a person, but take no real action to show your care, you don’t care about him/her that much.
And, there are levels in regard to actions too. You can perform half-hearted trys, or you can give it your full - it’s your devotion that makes the difference.
Next time, quit saying I’ll try, say “Will do!” and just DO it!
