When You Change, Circumstances Change
Published February 3rd, 2008 in Success, Law of Attraction, Life, Thoughts. Not long ago I reported here that I had missed one important opportunity, an opportunity that I had dreamed for very long. Why? I think mainly because I was not confident enough - confident enough to take the chance.

… For subconsciously I was not prepared. It’s too good to be true, I told myself. It’s not going to work, I told myself. I found lots of “evidence” to support my decision to give up.
When we tell ourselves that something is not going to work, it is not going to work. We drive ourselves to find fault in the situation, we amplify the hurdles. When we look for the negatives, we get lots of negatives.
It all comes from within. If the container has holes on it, water leaks.
The missed opportunity turned out to be a great blessing - for it led me to face my fear squarely, to work on myself first.
We all have fear, different fear - just that whether we allow it to overwhelm us, to sabotage ourselves.
I have been through some terrible things in my life, some of which actually happened.

Self fulfilling prophecy at work.
Most of the time, it’s not how good or bad the situation that matters, but how you interpret the situation that matters.
We need to groom ourselves into a big person to embrace the big opportunities.

That’s why so many people who have won the lottery turned bankrupt within very short period of time. For they were not psychologically ready to have a comfortable relationship with the huge sum of money. If you’ve trained (or, been trained) to be comfortable with say $10,000 cash, if you win a $1M lottery, you will very possibly spend and spend and over-spend until your cash level gets back to below $100,000. It’s like a thermostat working.
And this applies to all areas of lives.
…
I promised myself to reach out of my comfort zone.
And, believe it or not. Within one week of my making the promise, the once missed opportunity knocked on my door again. This time, I didn’t allow myself to think too much, I didn’t say no, I chose to let life unfold.
When you change, circumstances change.
Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back– Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth that ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then Providence moves too. All sorts of things occur to help one that would never otherwise have occurred. A whole stream of events issues from the decision, raising in one’s favor all manner of unforeseen incidents and meetings and material assistance, which no man could have dreamed would have come his way. Whatever you can do, or dream you can do, begin it. Boldness has genius, power, and magic in it. Begin it now.
~ Goethe

Another wonderful post that is well organized and relevant. It’s how we view our circumstance that means the difference between what we will and will not get out of it.
i love what you offer here. Well written.
Thanks Jon - I write the lessons I learnt in life, and the sharing brings me clarity.
