The Definition Of Success
Published February 17th, 2008 in Happiness, Love, Success, Life.Cartoon by Andrew Matthews
What is your definition of success?
Become a millionaire / billionaire / a CEO of a Fortune 500; married to the person you love; make the world a better place than it is…
Amongst the many definitions that I have come across, I quite like the one from Andrew Matthews, author of Being Happy and Follow Your Heart. According to him, success means:
- Have people in your life who you love and who love you;
- Spending your life doing things that have real meaning to you; and
- Leaving the world a better place than you found it.
Isn’t it true? You can make a lot of money doing things you hate day and night. You can climb high in the corporate ladder but neglected your family. You can be a millionaire but at the same time a very selfish person.
I don’t know about you, but, I think, if we bear these three definitions in mind, there should be a better chance that we make choices that make sense to us when we look back at the end of the day, with little regret.
